Monoski Directory Technical Information

Salomon S811 PS You all know how difficult it is to get good information about monoskis. How to mount, maintenance, risers, binding functional issues etc. are things everybody needs to know.

Salomon USA Salomon is the only Alpine binding manufacturer that will indemnify their bindings when mounted to a monoski, but they do not offer any kind of warranty.

Here is a link to the required release form that shops need for renting monoskis.

Snowjam Coil Leash The above release states that all monoskis mounted must have a leash attached, but most resorts do not require one if the outside brake arms are retained. Salomon brake cut for monoski use To cut the arm from the brake, don't use a hacksaw, it takes forever, use your Dremel tool with a cutting bit. Make sure you clean and dull the perimeter of the brake arm after you make the cut.

Bomber Splitboard Binding Another binding option is a plate or non-release binding system similar to this one. Lunar uses a similar bindings sytem on all of their monoskis, but the problem with the non-release systems that are available is that they are all designed for the standard 4X4 pattern on skiboards and snowboards. Monoskiers need a bit more holding power than 4 screws in the center but some plate binding systems can be modified to function quite well.

Me drilling Schmees' Swell Panik Finding anyone to mount a monoski can be a chore as well, let alone finding someone to modify a binding system. Check with your manufacturer or retail distributor (who might be me) about mounting. They can either supply instructions, can do the mount or might have someone in your area that can mount monoskis. Chronic offers free mounting services if you purchase from them direct. If you have a favorite technician in your area that will mount monoskis, let us know so we can create a service center list in the near future.

Soon to come, we'll include an instructional page for mounting your monoski and how to adjust Salomon bindings with some helpful photos. If you need a monoski, head over to Chronic who sells more models than anywhere else worldwide!
